8 Best Beaches in Phuket – Thailand

Phuket is one of the most popular vacation destination amongst visitors in South East Asian region. Beaches in Phuket are mesmerising and breathtaking and serves each kind of travellers.

Phuket island is located on the southern province of Thailand. Phuket accounts for more than 30 beaches. Also the cost of exploring beaches in Phuket is much cheap compared to any other western nations which makes it favourite travel destinations for all the Europeans and Asians.

I got an opportunity to travel this beautiful island this summer in the month of June. Hence I thought of sharing my experience with my readers on the topmost beaches to visit in this island.

8 Best Beaches in Phuket Thailand

Without further adieu, let’s explore the list of most amazing beaches in Phuket :

1). Freedom Beach

One of the most secluded and underestimated beaches in phuket is Freedom beach. Despite of being in near vicinity of Patong beach, very few people visit this glorious beach. This beach is around 400 m long and transfer to Freedom beach is generally available during high tourist season through Long Tail charter.

Its best suited for those who like calm and peaceful beaches to hangout. Freedom beach is remote white sand beach surrounded with clear blue water. It’s clearly one of my favourite beaches in Phuket as it’s just few minutes away from busy Patong area.

2). Kata Beach

Kata beach is the second most popular beach amongst visitors travelling to Phuket island after Patong beach. Kata beach is mostly explored by family vacationers hence its quite peaceful compared to other popular beaches in Phuket .

Kata beach is a white sandy beach with turquoise waters surrounded by the hills. The beach offers a good number of dining, shopping and nightlife options. Also you can find good number of resorts around the beach. Once can consider it as one of the best beaches in Phuket for families.

3). Surin Beach

Surin Beach is 800 m long and is not popular amongst the tourists. Although Surin beach is best suited for swimming during the high seasons due to the quality of water and sand.

The sunset in Surin beach is amazing as tourists & local gathers around with music systems to fun around beach along with beers. Surin beach doesn’t offers much of attractions and resorts but I had a great time spending couple of evenings around this beach.

4). Patong Beach

Patong Beach is the most visited and one of the most popular beaches in Phuket which attracts a huge number of crowd. Tourists who likes to be around happening place, then Patong beach is the one for them.

Patong beach is full of restaurants, bars, clubs, pubs, street shops and what not. It’s one of the most busiest areas of Phuket with more than thousands of hotels and resorts around. Patong beach is heaven for party lovers as its hosts party till 4 am in the morning.

Patong beach is also ideal for water sports as you can find jet skiing, parasailing, banana ride and other water sports activities around the beach. Although I must add, it is not one of the cleanest beaches in Phuket.

5). Bangtao Beach

Bangtao Beach is 20 minutes ride from airport and hosts one of the most luxurious resorts in Phuket. Bangato is considered to be one of the most versatile beaches in Phuket with an incredible chains of resorts and restaurants to hop on.

This beach is excellent for swimming during the dry season and it has some fine corals at the north end of the bay.

6). Kamala Beach

Kamala beach is located on west coast of Phuket island which is also known for its quietness and peacefulness. Kamala beach is very long and it offers a variety of eateries right on the beach offering all types of cuisines.

Kamala beach has soft pale sand and is surrounded by coconut trees. The beach attracts lots of visitors due to presence of Phuket Fantasea Park. This park offers varieties of shows involving elephants and acrobats.

7). Mai Khao Beach

Mai Khao beach is one of the longest beaches in Phuket island. It runs along for 11 kms, where the beach is mostly untouched and always empty with no shacks, chairs or food vendors.

The reason Mai Khao beach made in the list is, spotting an airplane. Yes, you read it right. The beach is located right next to Phuket International Airport and the airplane when land in the airport just passes above the tourists. It’s a treat to have once in a lifetime experience like this.

8). Rawai Beach

Rawai beach is located at the south end of Phuket island. If you’re a seafood lover, then Rawai beach has great options to hop on fresh seafood. Rawai beach is not ideal for swimming but it offers a mesmerizing view of nearby islands in a serene local atmosphere.
